Projects: The Lamb, Southall
This is our feasibility design proposal for the redevelopment of The Lamb public house in Southall North-West London.
The proposal comprises of eight residential apartments with a small element of undercroft parking. The site was a challenge as it sits at the side of a road bridge which crosses a canal with ground level at the lowest point being some 5m below bridge level. The site is in a Conservation Area and the existing public house is locally Listed. In addition there are two large protected trees which are to be retained as part of the proposal. The surrounding area is predominantly of domestic residential scale with the exception of a three storey development to the north which this scheme takes its massing from.
The design is contemporary in terms of its elevational treatment and use of materials and the most is made of the canalside location with the introduction of balconies to all habitable rooms facing the canal.
