Projects: Magdalen Lane, Hedon
This 3.5 acre green field site sits on the edge of the town of Hedon and comprises of the construction of two high quality buildings in the form of a 54 bed nursing care home and a 30 bed Dementia care home for a local operator. A new adoptable standard road forms a spine through the center of the site with the homes located either side and set in beautifully landscaped gardens. Unique features within both homes include a resident lounge bar, a shop, a café and a library. In addition, each home also includes five 2 bed assisted living apartments for more independent residents. The 54 bed home provides a large sun room and terrace at roof level providing panoramic views across the countryside.
Externally a bowling green is provided for the use of residents and the local bowling club. In terms of gardening activities a sensory garden is provided for the Dementia home and an allotment garden is located at the front of the site allowing residents to grow their own plants and produce. The scheme received full planning approval in October 2012 with construction commencing on site in April 2013. The home opened in September 2014.
Since the completion of works, the home has WON Care Home of the year at the 2015 Pinders Healthcare Design Awards.
Project value: £7m est.
Client Testimony: “We have worked with Fluid Design Associates for our last two New Build Care Home projects, where they saw the sites through to completion. We have also worked on other sites with Andrew and Matt, gaining planning permission for three other Care Homes.
They have a fantastic understanding of Healthcare Design, given their extensive experience in the sector, and provide a detailed and committed service throughout the development. We would recommend speaking with Fluid Design should you have any upcoming Healthcare projects”.
