This vacant and vandalised C2 care home formerly owned by the Local Authority was purchased in 2011 by a UK leader in the provision of mental health and rehabilitation facilities and Fluid Design’s appointment was to remodel the interior layout of the building to form a 22 en-suite bedroom intensive mental health facility for male patients with learning disabilities, achieve planning approval for a new treatment of the façade,achieve building regulations approval and then produce the working drawings for the construction phase on site. Fluid design also supervised the works on site on behalf of the client through to completion.
Clientele specific accommodation includes a wing of occupational therapy rooms and doctor’s rooms, a Gym and an internet café. This facility will also be utilised as a regional office base with a wing providing office facilities and meeting rooms. In addition the refurbishment also includes two self-contained apartments which provide a step-down facility. The client took possession of the building in May 2012.
